Intention:
Today’s class didn’t have much new material. I wanted to consolidate everything we’d been going over as far as guard passing the last few weeks. I did add one new pass from half-butterfly because we’d been spending a lot of time in that position specifically (video yesterday).
I wanted to replace some of the technique time in my classes with positional sparring to give more time to explore the position(s) rather than open the floodgates of various techniques.
However, that didn’t quite happen yesterday and that’s fine because it’s obviously valuable to make sure that people who don’t come to class regularly aren’t getting left behind and almost nobody perfectly recalls all the information from a single (or even two or three) class anyway.
Warm Up:
5 x 1 min creativity: getting to a seated opponent on their back, or attacking their back.
5 x 1 minute creativity: seated opponent connecting to a guard vs. standing opponent.
